More About Me-Lissa
Hi! I’m the owner/operator of Lissa Loves Dogs, LLC.
Love of animals is in my genes! My parents always had dogs when I was growing up. I was very lucky they let us have pets as kids. I received my first Betta fish from my aunt on my 7th birthday. The party was Harry Potter-themed and he was a lovely red betta so naturally, Ron was his name.
Through the years I’ve had dogs, fish, small animals like guinea pigs, and a few reptiles! I spent my early high school career taking all the animal science classes through F.F.A. I was on the junior dairy judging team and all-around had lots of fun. I spent a couple of years working for PetSmart in the animal care department and as a Pet Trainer. I learned so much like how to give a hamster medication, goldfish actually require large spaces, and chinchillas are so hyper! Also, I have volunteered at SAFE Haven Cat Shelter, Love A Sea Turtle, and Duke Lemur Center. All of these experiences were amazing. Red Ruff Lemurs love to talk in the morning! I have spent lots of my life cleaning enclosures.
While I didn’t finish vet tech school, I am getting ready to retake Pet CPR as it’s been a few years. I also am considering getting Dog Trainer Certified again. I had a certification through PetSmart in 2017 but, I am now working towards my CPDT-KA(Certified Professional Dog Trainer- Knowledge Assessed). My love of animals leads me to start this business. Working off of apps like Wag! and Rover have been such a blessing. I am hoping this business will allow me to build my tiny house and start a small homestead. I can’t wait to meet your companions!
